Blog 106--We're all Poor--

Almost everyone I know is poor (in money). Poor and being abused by either members of their own family, degraded by members of their own family, and forced to pay ridiculous prices for food at the grocery store.

Quebec claims to be a socialist democratic place full of tax benefits and shit, HAHAHAHAHA, how about there is NOTHING out there for students with children, not enough to live a good life. It's like our stupid minimum wage of 9.50$ to 10.25$ an hour. Gross. I'm sorry in places in the world that it's lower. I know personally that I'm rich compared to those people and I'm lucky to have free healthcare, but it's miserable to know you're going to raise a child in poverty, and we work. It really hits you in fucking gut when it happens to you. You feel so much empathy for the rest of the world because you realize that we're all swimming in this rut. And look at us, Quebecers. Over-educated, under-employed. We're nothing. We're everything, and we're nothing to society, that wants to breed workers not nurture brains.

I have friends who deal in the black market. I don't even blame them. They have to do it in order to eat, else they will be pummeled by student debt and I KNOW that it's soooooo much less bad here! I can't even start to imagine what it's like in the US! I feel really bad for those people and I'm super lucky, but it's hard still. First world problems, I guess, eh? I try not to get depressed over this too much. Go NDP I guess. At least if they can raise the minimum wage to 15$ an hour we lower-caste geniuses will be able to go home and feed our children after paying off everything else. RIP Jack Layton. You are so missed.... we will always love you!

With love
