Blog #111--Critique: everydayfeminsm.com

I'm sad this site exists. I'm sad because I see its worth and value, but it makes me sick to my stomach how much hand-holding some of these sites have. Are people really getting that stupid to not be able to critically make judgement and think by themselves what is right and wrong?

Take this article for example, many of which are enumerated lists of myths and facts that 'people should know' This one talks of the sex industry. It has lines like:

Myth #2: People in the Sex Industry Are All Straight, Poor, Adult, American Women of Color Who Work in the Streets

 Ouch!

I've never ever heard of that, is this a thing? Where do you live to think this? Murrica, fuck yeah? The list goes on to talk about how we shouldn't demonize prostitutes because hey! they're people too! No fucking DUH. This site is like for conservative white people who have been raised in gated communities and are like: wow, there's a whole world full of different people out there.

This one too is neat: about 'lies' we have to stop 'teaching' girls. Like we teach girls most of this, it's common knowledge in society more like, in conservative, shitty society perhaps. I'm sorry, I don't mean conservative like... if you like Stephen Harper or that Republican party for X reason, I'm talking hardcore Bible belt fundamentalist conservatives. In this article they mention purity balls, which I've mentionned as well in this article like... a yeah ago. Way to be on the ball.

But 'we have to teach our daughters or 'girls' that virginity is not real'.

Ok, hold it.

Just because some asshole in Colorado Spring is making his 10-year-old promise not to have her cherry popped until she's married, doesn't mean that we have to break all of culture and all of tradition. Virginity is not just associated with purity, with religion, it's a question of experience and that's how most people see it. I think it's important, personally, yes this is just an opinion, to differetiate between not having had sex and having had sex in your life. When you don't know what it's like, you're apart, you're part of something else, yes a state of pureness, and that's totally fine. And I dislike that the article is target toward girls as well. What about boys? Boys should be aware that sex is special and not just a moment where they dominate or whatever they're thinking these days (not to be hateful, I just have no idea why there's excessive rape these days, or right, because of shit education) *Sigh*

I don't recommend reading this site unless you want to laugh or sneer at their lack of originality and smarts. People claim to be feminists, which just upholds the gender of 'feminine' which is not part of being in an equal or equited society. It's just a bunch women doing feminism wrong, again and it's sad. Go check it out if you must, but it's really cringy. I can't really go on.
