Well, I thought this blog was going to be all nice and friendly, green and happy and full of joy, well... sometimes, one has to be rather forward and strong in order to tell the world what bothers them, and it often makes people uncomfortable. Well, let me tell you something. I am about to write my views as an ally of homosexuals and clear up a few things that people often get wrong. I'm going to be my usual diplomatic, undeluded self. :)
First of all, women and men can be gay. Sounds obvious, but I want to emphasize the word 'gay'. Perhaps some women like to associate with the word 'Lesbian' but each time I hear people say: Gay and Lesbian, I'm like -_- I see that you've joined the Department of Redundancy Department. Gay includes Lesbian, you don't have to add it. In that sense, there is a word for strictly women loving other women: Lesbian, but there is no word for strict male homosexuals. It's homosexual, or gay, (which both also include women). Cool eh? So yeah, I know some Lesbians and they agree with me, but I'm sure some Lesbians like it when you call them that. I guess it depends on the person :)
Secondly, let us focus on the whole 'gay marriage is wrong'. I'd like to mention that marriage is simply a construct in the first place. Marriage is created by society to join people together (oh excuse me, men and women if you're talking about America). What does it do? You get money and benefits when married, but what's this whole 'after marriage, things are going to change' bullshit that I hear. Like, 'the first year of marriage can be tough'. Why? I think it relates back to religion, I mean, often it does. If someone keeps their 'viriginity' (which is also a construct of society, see this blog post for a whole conversation about this topic) for their marriage, then for sure things are going to be different after because you'll have this new thing in your life. Also, these people who barely know each other and get married... I've been with my boyfriend for 5 years, and I don't want to think of marriage; it sounds as if we're tying each other together, restricting each other. If you really love someone, you don't need a symbol and a wedding, you only need each other. STILL! For people who DO want to get married, for religious reasons, for the benefits or fun the lol's, it is unfair that a gay couple would be restricted.
In 23 states in America, you can marry your first cousin. In...7 states it is legal to marry someone of the same gender. Wow, that's sad. So America doesn't care about fucking up their genetic diversity, but care about two people of the same gender getting married? I mean, I have nothing against both parties, but America, wake up! Obama should do something!! Sigh... I'm glad I'm Canadian and that at my University there are gay people and there is little to no 'bullying' concerning it.
Anyway, I have to continue working on my end of semester papers and so I have to unfortunately leave this here, but I might do an update or follow-up :)
Character of the Day:
Reagan O'Connor
Appeareance: Puzzle Days + Nights (if Nights is to exist, eh CR? :P)
Bio: Reagan has always known his attraction to other boys, but never had he expected to have attraction returned to him in the form of hot, greaser Ted Broadway, who has never known of his homosexuality. Reagan and Ted both get bullied after they announce their love to the school, (Ted being popular and hated by the preps *this book is very stereotypical --and for a reason--*) Reagan is Naomi's roommate for the time that she stays on the boys side of the school, and he guards her in the showers and is her best friend. He is kind, and a bit 'dépendent affectif' but just enough. When Ted tells him that he's already been debauched by a certain girl, it makes him jealous, but everything works out. Both Ted and Reagan never become supernaturals, but live a long life together and die old and happy. :) Omg, they're a lovely couple! Yeah, they're in this blog too! :p
