Blog #78--Society 101: Facebook Equality Profile Picture Problems--

About this:

There is something wrong with some people who are intolerant of certain situations that may arise between two individuals of not only the same gender, but the same age. There are limitations, for sure, I'm not talking about a child and an adult, but the way people look at others if they have large age-differences, or if one of them is under 18 or 21.

There are some brilliant youth who understand the power, the beauty of a person beyond their years, and there are amazing, understanding people who are older who have romantic feelings toward perhaps someone who is 16 or 17, and while both have romantic feelings, they are restricted by society, yes, the same society that enforces God, the same society that enforced being Pro-Life and who is against gay marriage, but also people who frown by the automatic thought of a 16-year-old dating a 24-year-old, man or woman. Would you see that? Are you disgusted by the thought of a 16-year-old boy who is dating a 21-year-old woman? I'm just bringing the thought out there because these people who claim to be for equality also have to take into consideration that equality is a powerful word and if they want to publically demonstrate it, you have to assume your position and never, ever waver, else you lose your credibility and your dignity. So, in the end, this symbol represents the fact that you are for marriage equality, and therefore, it should be made more clear. People say that using the terminology 'marriage equality' instead of 'gay marriage' makes it better, and it is, but make it clear then that your equal sign shows tolerance toward everyone and not just men and men or women and women. True, it is a progression and we must take things easy on little itty bitty so sensitive conservative society that for some reason is so fucking RIGID and HARD to pierce. It's because we're afraid. People have been made weak by society. People are afraid of look in each other's eyes and confess their love, are afraid to break-up because the love is gone. People are not taught was affection is. People fear losing others, people are constrained to be in one type of relationship with their boyfriends. People condemn others for being polygamists, or polyamorous. There is NOTHING wrong with being polyamorous if everyone's okay with it. *shakes head* There is SO much to equality and people just don't get it. It saddens to me to the point that I feel extreme anger. There is SO much beauty in the world and the patriarchs of our society shut down this beauty with false magic, with invisible walls, with the frustration of abstinence and the alienation of people from their own human nature. Religion plays a huge role, but that'll be for another time. There are other things that one must keep in consideration. So, if you're not okay with one of these:

Men and men
Women and women
Consenting and understanding individuals whether they be man and men or woman and woman and one of them is a bit under the age of consent (according to the law) but is the younger is mature enough to have a romantic (and perhaps not sexual) relationship with the older (who will understand and respect their youthhood for the time that it has left to mature)
People who may be related to a certain degree (and both are okay with that)
Interracial couplings

Then take off that symbol from your profile right now, because you're lying to the world, and you're lying to yourself. If you're okay with all of the above, then you can keep it, and I thank you for being patient, caring and understanding of the fact that we are human beings who just want to be loved.

Character of the Day:
Eluvia

Appearances: Scream Wolf (Hunting the Wolf)
Bio: Eluvia is waylaid on her way toward her grandmother's by a large black wolf. Frightened and yet obsessed with it, she mulls him in her trauma of the incident until her obsession leads her to find the wolf after the village says that is it probably a werewolf and it is killing people every night. Scream Wolf is based on the game Loup-Garoups de Thiercellieux, btw. Eluvia finds a wolf, but not the right one and after she ends up realizing that she's given up her body to the wrong man, she falls deeply depressed. Her brother, Liux, ends up being the one to console her. Liux fights feelings that he has for his own blood, and she accepts him as not only a brother, but a more intimate figure in her life.

Do people even read my character descriptions? Bah, don't care much anymore.
Thanks for reading! If you disagree with me, please, diplomatically formulate a rebuke. I would love to hear it! :)

  1. In an ideal world, the younger one would in fact be cared for correctly until they've matured enough for sexuality. However, in the sick twisted world that we live in, there are simply too many cases where the younger one is taken advantage of in some way; even when the younger one is the male.

There are a lot of cases wherein someone young is mature beyond their years and is looking for that level of maturity or more. In those cases, that's great and awesome. The ideal case where 2 people, one young, and one older can love each other and learn from oneanother is great I know a couple where the male is 15 and the female is 19 and they are very happy.

I would say that the laws are in place for cases where the young one is naive and gets taken advantage of. However, the laws should certainly not be used as a reason to show intolerance to couples with age gaps.

Polygamy / monogamy on the other hand, are completely inculcated (and often religiously indoctrinated) concepts.

People like what they know, and fear what is different from them and what they do not understand.

While an extreme case can be made for the former topic (say a 20 year old dating a 1 year old), such a case cannot be created for polygamy. As you said, if all parties are okay with it, then there is nothing wring with it.

There is even a country where it is tradition to kidnap your bride: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DKAusMNTNnk

The general population can be conditioned with relative ease to think (and also not think) a certain way. Religious folks think their God or Entity has it all solved for them, and then on the other hand conspiracy theorists have preachers like Alex Jones, and so forth. There are mechanisms in place to get the general population to think a certain way.

People also have mirror neurons which as a child are used to adapt well to our environment. As we get older, they are used to take pride in making a positive contribution to society by flipping burgers at McD's; "Just like everyone else." A lot of people get comfort in what they were formatted to think is the norm. Regardless of the ethical, economical, etc implications that the norm might have.

    2. Polygamy/polyamory occurs in nature though, just like homosexuality. It is true the it's forced into some people by religion and whatnot, but if all parties consent, then it's not an issue.

  2. Thank you for your insightful comment! :) I very much agree with you and I understand that the laws are there, and it is a shame for those who want to do good not to be the person they love.
