Blog #42 --Living Wannabe Vegan--

If ever you are in Lennoxville, Quebec, you have to stop at Espaces-Temps, a small café owned by a wonderful woman, who cooks mostly vegan. Her presence and views on life and society are inspiring, and I find myself being totally wannabe vegan. I wish I was, and I've been asked if I was a couple times, but no... I eat meat and drink milk. I could be vegerarian, since I stay away from red meat, but I know many people who cannot resist sinking their teeth into a fresh, delicious steak cooked for thirty seconds on a super hot pan smothered in peppercorn gravy. Okay, I'm salivating right now, but I must... eat... this lettuce... ha ha. Psyche. Lettuce sucks. Today I was cooking with fresh Coriander (Cilantro) and I put too much and it rather ruined my dish. One must be careful with how much they put in a dish. Sadness -_- But hey it's okay! Oh oh! I have a recipe for sweet potato fries. Let's go!

Recipe for Sweet Potato Fries

Cut up sweet potato in 'juliennes' like fry-shaped strips, like. :P
Put in a pan and add 'greek' spices you can buy at the strore. If you have none, thyme and rosemary and salt should do.
Put a bit of cooking oil at the bottom on an aluminum tray and slide them in the oven on the middle rack at 400 degrees for around 15 minutes. If you cook them at a low temperature, they'll end up being mushy. Bah, they're going to be mushy a bit anyways because sweet potato fries at restaurants are deep-fried, which is a bit more unhealthy, however you're totes allowed to like that!
Take em out, but if they're not cooked enough, try intervals of 5 mins to make sure they don't burn. Stay with them, don't start checking Facebook :P (my roommate does that tsk tsk tsk) and then dab them out in paper towel to remove the oil, unless you like the oil. I'm just trying to make this like healthy(er) lol.
Enjoy!! :)

PS: I know my cooking, my father was a chef cook when he was younger and he taught me a lot. If you have any sort of question, I can answer it! By the way, you can make this recipe with normal potatoes too, but I would lower the oven to 350 because those actually become crispy. Make sure to salt them though, because or else it's less good. Vinegar them if you like that too!

Character of the Day:
Duregar

Appearances: Pillow Talk, Needle and Chain, Ashenlust
Bio: Mysterious and daunting, Duregar took part in the crime that brought his Alpha (Kara) to St. Matthew's Residential. Secretive about his past and origins, dark-skinned, muscular and violent Duregar hides his emotions, although sympathizes unexpectedly with Chief in Needle and Chain. He lives to protect his Alpha and to make sure her every need and want is satisfied.

Rather short bio today. I'm so excited though! Thanks everyone for following and entering my universe! I realize that a lot of characters recently don't have last names! :P My Fishes!!!!! Feed zeeemm!! :3
